Learning Strand:

The learning strand that this article relates to is marketing challenges, approaches, and distributions. It relates to this strand because their unique marketing design for the holiday season brought outcries from the consumers. They lost customers and piled up with complains all because of the simple design of cups. People did not support the red cups and felt this was not festive enough for Christmas and felt it brought down Christmas spirit. This made the company lost business and their marketing approaches did not work out and it was a flop for the business. It did not satisfy the needs and wants of customers and brought a lot of dissatisfaction into play. Their marketing techniques this Christmas brought more of a loss to for Starbucks and caused tension for the people around.

Thoughts and Opinions:

My opinion on this article is that it is ridiculous that people would make such a big deal out of the red cups. People blew up this issue more than it needed to be. I feel that people now often try to find the smallest problems to pick on and make it in issue. In my opinion, I feel that this year Starbucks just wanted to be a little more simple and unique and I feel that there is no mistake in that. I agree that it was more the change of seeing the plain red cups on Christmas rather than the usual decorated festive ones. That was more of what led to the outburst but overall I think that this is not an issue that people should be stressing over or causing tension to and it was just an error in the marketing and design section of Starbucks.
