Learning Strand:

The learning strand that this relates to is factors influencing success in international markets. It relates to this strand because the outbreak of E-coli has brought down the reputation and identity of Chipotle. Their success rates and sales have gone down because of the illnesses being caused through their products. It affects many people to not buy or eat at Chipotle and that affects them internationally as well because they are losing their locations and customers. Their workplace is also changing because they are tweaking their cooking methods and there has to be more done in preparation before starting the cooking process. It will take them a while to get back the customers they lost and bring back the great reputation this restaurant had.

Opinions and Thoughts:

My opinion on this article is that it is very dangerous to see that fast food restaurants can cause such severe food borne illnesses. It is concerning that it has put many people’s lives at risk due to the unsanitary foods. It spreads awareness to others to make sure you are eating safe and healthy foods. It is good that Chipotle has taken the initiative and extra effort to make sure that from now on, they will improve the cleanliness of their food and cooking environment and they are doing much more to help and improve their restaurant.

Who: The Chipotle restaurant.

What: The Chipotle restaurant has to change up their cooking methods due to the outbreak of E-coli spreading to a large number of people after eating Chipotle’s products.

When: This incident occurred in the end of October.

Where: It started in California and Minnesota but the severe outbreaks happened in Oregon and Washington.

Why: Chipotle have changed up their cooking methods because there was break out cases of E-coli and they had complains that their food was unsanitary and dangerous to others.

How: There were few outbreak cases in California and Minnesota but the severe ones and reported ones blew up in Oregon and Washington that led to 43 restaurants shutting down. Chipotle will change their cooking methods by having more sanitary ingredients and providing a more cleansed cooking environment where the food will be made.
