You really can't go past denim for robustness in a fabric. I love it for homewares especially for boys. It's hardwearing, looks great and gives a relaxed, contemporary feel to a room. I also love that it looks like a favourite pair of jeans once washed..

To make this quilt you'll need some some denim, a craft panel from Saffron Craig Fabrics, some red fabric, contrasting and backing fabric, buttons, red thread and white thread. You will applique the circles from the craft panel onto the red fabric, then cut out the circles from the denim. You'll then attached from behind the red fabric onto the denim fabric. Once you've made the base and the backing fabric, you'll oversew the doona to give a more finished, designer look to it, sew on some buttons and repeat for the pillowcase. Full instructions are on the website.

eet Safrron Craig Fabrics. Saffron is the designer of these gorgeous Australian animals, they are from her collection of Craft Panels and Softies. This is the blue craft panel and you can see all the lovely softy friends sitting on the bed. The colours are contemporary and the designs whimsical and fun. If you have joined the facebook page you may have seen that I had a nice catch up with Saffron last month. I took this doona along to show her what I had made with her fabrics, and you'll never believe it, just that morning she had drawn up almost the same design herself! We laughed so much, we're definately on the same wave length.
