2 MACARTHUR MEMORIAL
July 14th, 2018—Bastille Day at the MacArthur Memorial!
General MacArthur had close personal and professional ties to France.
If you’re a history buff, don’t miss out on MacArthur’s podcasts, available here!
T
he MacArthur Memorial has
had a very busy fall and is
looking forward to 2019!
This fall marked 100 years
since WWI’s climactic battles
and armistice. Throughout
September and October, the
Memorial released podcasts
and online content related to
American battles at St Mihiel
and the Argonne. A major
symposium brought three fine
historians here on 6 October,
and their presentations are now
out as podcasts.
On 11 November, the Memorial
commemorated the 100th
anniversary of the war’s end as
part of its annual Veteran’s Day
ceremony. Mayor Alexander
spoke at the ceremony and laid
a wreath at General MacArthur’s
grave. These events concluded
the bulk of the Memorial’s WWI
centennial programs, which
started back in 2014.
The Memorial’s 2019 Calendar
of Events is also out. For
more information, visit
macarthurmemorial.org.
The Memorial’s current special
exhibit, Over Here, Over There,
will close at the end of 2018. The
next exhibit, titled Legacies: The
MacArthurs in Asia, 1898-1964,
will open April 18, 2019, and be
up until early 2021. Stay tuned for
details.

Lastly, we send best wishes
to Amanda Williams and her
husband Patrick, who welcomed
daughter Elsa Augusta Clark on
November 29.
