My time studying Art at Sevenoaks has been truly foundational . Since Year 9 , the Art room has been a haven , a space where I could fully immerse myself in the creative process . Surrounded by half-finished prints and the quiet energy of my peers , I developed not only my technical skills but also a deeper appreciation for collaboration .
Conversations over compositions turned into friendships . My friends played a pivotal role in shaping my work ; their insights and perspectives served as both inspiration and muse .
During the IB , I aimed to create a body of work that fully reflected my identity . Working across mediums from plaster to print , each piece was deeply influenced by my lived experience . Drawing inspiration from Nigeria ’ s rich textile history , I developed a series of handmade weaves , refining them through various techniques .
Whether through sculpture or painting , I embraced an experimental approach , allowing mistakes to become integral to the creative process . Every piece became a conversation – with my peers , my teachers or even with myself . Refining projects taught me patience and resilience . As I reflect on my IB Art journey , the department remains a space that shaped me as a creative in every sense .
