Art has been a huge part of my life , especially through the IB course . My main focus has been layering and printmaking . Throughout the course , I have experimented with many different types and ways of layering various prints and putting them together to create abstract outcomes . Recently I have focused on architecture and street art , making this the main theme I have looked at for my artwork .
My exhibition includes a vast amount of work about New York , which I created after seeing its architecture and views . I decided to create the majority of my prints about New York ’ s architecture , inspired both by New York artists and by its general style of street art . My ideas consisted of printing cityscape imagery onto paper and layering graffiti and / or other images on top , to create unique outcomes .
These ideas then developed by making these prints on other materials , such as wood , and layering street-related things on top , including brick layers and other materials such as tissue paper . This created depth and a more urban feel to my prints . This was also conveyed by the rough layering that I added , through not removing ink from previous prints , to create a more street-like feel and add a murky effect .
Throughout my whole time inside and out of the Art department , art has encouraged creativity within my everyday thinking and allowed me to see daily things in life from a different perspective .
