The overarching idea behind my art is to explore the sense of belonging and space in city life . I utilise both traditional and digital art styles to emulate a sense of personal response to places and concepts . Within my digital art , I tried to create a contrast between saturated and unsaturated areas with the gate as the border . This is to explain the sense of nostalgia I receive when I enter a place I am used to . These feelings include a sense of warmth , safety and calmness . My other pieces , such as my collages with New York photos behind them , represent my almost deteriorated memory of a place where I used to live during my childhood . I was trying to abstract the cityscape into geometric shapes to deliberately eradicate all sense of perspective and rearrange it to create a flat abstract composition . Finally , within my monoprint , I tried to emulate a style that seems like an antique photo . This is because I was trying to capture within the moment the vibrancy within this street that becomes silent during the day . It represents the joy I feel walking down these memorable streets .
