Letter from the Director of SAF Indian Ocean Africa
Based in Mauritius, ''SAF Ocean Indien Afrique'', is in charge of developing international activities in the region,
benefitting in particular Mauritius by organising upskilling trainings.
Beyond the upskilling, we believe we have a significant impact on the recognition of the know-how of Mauritian
crafts. In 2018, we have organised with the ''Meilleurs Ouvriers de France'' some Master Classes of crafts such as
Hairdresser, Barman, Sommelier, ''Maître d’hôtel'' as well as ''Arts de la table''. Over 150 trainees have participated.
The trainings have proven to us that the time has come for Mauritian companies to rely on French know-how of
excellence. 2019 will be our first annual programme of 20 ''Meilleurs Ouvriers de France'' and 16 first crafts, which
will initially concentrate on the hospitality industry.
For the first time, crafts such as Barman, ''Maître d’hôtel et ''Arts de la table'' will be open to all Mauritians; these
classes have already known great success in 2018. Other classes like Hotel florist for the realisation of floral
structures and preparation of bouquets or Make-up artist / Hairdresser (hotel staff), or Landscape gardener
aimed at the maintenance of luxury hotels in Mauritius, provide a lot of options for excellence at the service of
Mauritian companies wishing to train their staff.
These trainings offer you the possibility to train your most passionate employees through regular and short-term
trainings at the highest level possible. Course materials provided to participants after each training allow the
trainees to put into practice what was taught in the two sessions, thus providing durability to the trainings.
For me, the excellence know-how must be recognised and has the responsibility of becoming one of the pillars
of our island. It is through the dissemination of this excellence know-how that we will succeed.
