Family Month

Kiwanians of all ages united together in the month of November to celebrate Kiwanis Family month. Our K-Family passion exists all year long, but special months like this one truly exemplify the profound impact that K-Family relations have on the community. Kelly Chan, the District Governor of NY Circle K reported upon the outstanding work that the NY Kiwanis Family accomplished in November: “To celebrate K-Family month, the New York District Key Club, Circle K, and Kiwanis board's raised $20,000 through hosting a walk for The Eliminate Project at our annual K-Family Board weekend. The weekend itself is always a means to celebrate K-Family weekend because it gives the three boards a chance to bond with their counterparts. The clubs downstate also assisted in hosting a mini-convention for the K-Kids and Builders Clubs in Long Island. Many club officers, board members and club members represented at various K-Family divisionals. Just to name one- LTG Brian Kenny, LIU Club President Stephanie Iacona and I represented Circle K at the Long Island North divisional.

Circle K clubs from California-Nevada-Hawaii District also went above and beyond during Kiwanis Family month. Orange Coast College Circle K participated in a Bodhi Youth of America Service Project with Magnolia High School Key Club, We Give Thanks Thanksgiving Feast Preparation with Kiwanis and Key Club, and Barrier Free Park Fence Painting with the Santa Ana Kiwanis Family (just to name a few). University of California, Riverside Circle K organized a Kiwanis Family Day where they set up a morning service project, a CKI 101 Workshop, and a potluck social in the afternoon. The club additionally organized a Kiwanis Shadow Program with Key Club and a Thanksgiving Packaging and Distribution service project with Key Club.

These projects are representative of the outstanding service completed in the month of November. If your club organized or participated in a K-Family service project, I strongly encourage you to share your story with the rest of the K-Family through the CKI Kiwanis Family blog, The K-Family Kronicles: http://ckikfam.blogspot.com/. Can’t wait to hear how YOU and your club connected the Ks! And always remember, when we unite as a Kiwanis Family, we increase our impact on individuals and communities!
