Other Activities:

There are no other on-site activities at the dam, but there is a small jungle gym for the kids and loads of space to run or cycle to your hearts content. If you have a boat, you can enjoy some skiing or tubing in the summer months or explore the various coves and bays in the dam. There are no crocodiles or hippos in the dam and other than the boat traffic, you are pretty safe swimming in the dam. The water is generally clear and cool and nothing beats a refreshing dip after a long day fishing. If you plan on walking the banks or swimming in the shallows by the camping grounds, always have a pair of water shoes on. Unfortunately, people have the nasty habit of breaking glass bottles on rocks below the high-water mark which poses a serious hazard to those walking the banks or wading/swimming along the edges of the dam.

There are no motorcycles or quadbikes allowed at the dam, but should you wish to bring then along, there are numerous off-road tracks in the vicinity. Although there are no big game animals at the dam, the surrounding highveld grassland host a wide variety of bird species and it is definitely worth your while to pack in the binoculars. After the first decent summer rains the veld also comes alive with colour. The multitude of beautiful flowers come into bloom and it is worth while taking a walk through the veld and photographing the various flowers and their associated insects.
