Day 3
Up early, and after a cup of coffee we headed out to the boat with the whole family. Rods everywhere! This time we were also looking for some sandbanks where the river makes S-turns and we fished the mouths of small lagoons. I hooked up with a small tiger on a modified single hook black and red Mepps number 4. At last something was in the boat and my first tiger!
My brother-in-law (Manie) caught a massive Three-spot Tilapia on the Mepps so he was also on the board. We had a couple of small fish for bait as well and my father-in-law (Braam) through out a bait.
The previous day we had a chat to the boat manager at the lodge and he gave us a couple of tips on how to fish for tigers with bait. At that stage we were all so desperate to catch a decent tiger we were listening to any advice we could get. Braam caught a small barbel on bait and we headed back to camp for lunch. After lunch we took the boat South. We were six people on the boat and casting would be quite difficult with the flyrod so I did not even set up. At a very sharp S-Bend Manie and I got a double hook-up on the spinners and landed both . Smallish tigers but still a lot of fun!
