Real life Event: Now like the movie the Perron family was lined to the paranormal activity of Bathsheba by the Warren family. Bathsheba was a real person who lived in the 1800s. While there was no real evidence that she was a witch, though a child did die in her care. At the time it was said that the death was ruled as a result of a sewing needle going through the child’s skull. The people around Bathsheba believed that this was done as a sacrifice to the devil (as the movie suggests). Bathsheba was ruled by the court innocent yet the public still believed that she was a witch. Most evidence can be found from a book that one daughter of the Perrons wrote. In the book, Andrea described one event where the Carlyon (mother of the Perron family) told of a moment where she felt a pain in her leg. When she went to inspect it she noticed a small circle that the daughter later described as a “perfectly concentric circle”. The Warrens then told the Perrons about the story of Bathsheba and her child’s death. There were also notes that several cases of suicide, death by natural causes, rape and even murder had taken place on the farmhouse property over the years. However, the main difference between this story and the movie is, that the Perron mother never tried to kill any of her kids.
