Talks About The Sequim Real Estate Market

Sequim is a very popular retirement destination, and for good reason. The rain shadow or blue hole is real, and Sequim gets 1/3rd the rain of Seattle. Sequim has wonderful climate. Sequim is far from the horrendous traffic jams of Los Angeles and Seattle, crime is extremely low, and the friendly community and extraordinary recreational opportunities all make Sequim a wonderful place to live. I can testify to that after 18 years in Sequim.

The Sequim real estate market has been much more stable than almost all other areas of the country, but prices have still dropped significantly. What is interesting

interesting is that after putting their plans to buy a home in Sequim on hold for nearly two years during this recession and all the uncertainty surrounding the stock market and pensions, they are making the move this summer to buy in Sequim. Why?

I've asked all my clients who have been buying homes in Sequim why they are making the move now. With amazing consistency, here is what they are saying. "The real estate market probably isn't going to start recovering for several years, and we're not going to put our lives on hold any longer. Besides, even though our home will sell for less, we're buying a home in Sequim for less, too, so it's a wash. We also expect interest rates to start going up, and that could be the difference in a mortgage payment of $400 a month or more. But one of the biggest reasons is that we keep observing that the best homes, the ones we really are interested, keep selling, and those homes are off the market for our lifetime."

This is all true. The Sequim inventory is small, a little over 800 homes in our MLS for the entire country. There are only a few dozen homes that are the best homes in the best areas at the best prices, the homes that retirees would want all on one level, with nice floor plans, a beautiful kitchen, three bedrooms, a little privacy, and not far from downtown Sequim.

I've written almost 1,000 local real estate articles for buyers on my Sequim-Real-Estate-Blog.com, plus there are over 100 videos and a great Sequim MLS search site that you'll love. I hope you'll give me the privilege of representing you as your Sequim Buyer's Agent.
