“I don’t run
with my legs,
I run with
my heart”April Joy
three days of running. With the goal to
improve my best race time by thirteen
minutes, I opted for a more involved
plan. I run five or six days a week, most
days before sunrise.
Committing to a training plan comes
with sacrifice. The biggest sacrifices for
me are my guilty pleasures....cupcakes
and cocktails. To stay mentally
focused, I cut back on those things.
But when the race is over, I do treat
myself to a grand feast and a huge
cocktail.
It never seems easy to me, but
each time I get better mentally and
physically. On days when running
seems difficult, I don’t run with my
legs, I run with my heart. There’s
only one feeling for me that beats
completing a training plan and
showing up at the START line and
that’s crossing the finish.
