Inspiration THE JOURNEY TO 13.1 A STORY OF TRIUMPH OF FINISHING A HALF-MARATHON BY APRIL BOWDEN T he journey to 13.1 begins like most other journeys, with the courage to take the first step. For me, the first step,was believing I could run such a distance. I signed up for my first half marathon shortly after I completed my first 5k. Diva Half Marathon was in Myrtle Beach and I would spend twelve weeks training. My work schedule didn’t allow me to run the long distances with my friends who were also training for the same race. I am currently training for my 4th half marathon. The hardest part for me of a 13.1 race isn’t the race at all, it’s the training. It’s committing to 12-16 weeks of rearranging life and sleep around a training schedule.
