BAHS Yearbook Program Recognized for Excellence
The Bellefonte Area High School Yearbook program works exceptionally hard each year to provide a beautiful publication of the captured memories of students and staff each school year . This past school year , the program was recognized under the Yearbook Program of Excellence for the 2022-2023 school year through the Jostens company . The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body , while helping students develop skills such as communication , collaboration , and communication technologies literacy .
This past school year , the BAHS Yearbook program had fourteen students and an adviser that worked exceptionally hard on the school ’ s yearbook publication . These fourteen students included : Kathryn Gearhart , Samuel Haak , Kate Harman , Tyler Harter , Hailey Miller , Sara Proctor , Naomi Putnam , Haylie Rimmey , Madison Ripka , Danika Robinson , Lakeesha Rodriquez Santiago , Lauren Skrzycki , Reese Walters , and Abigail Weiser . Their adviser , Andrew Weigold , has been the yearbook adviser for ten years now . He had this to say about his student staff and the program that he has developed : “ I have been the Yearbook Adviser at Bellefonte for 10 years . Each year our staff embarks on a journey to create a book that encompasses many events throughout the year , as well as showcase our school spirit on each page of the book . Our staff uses new techniques in order to finish the yearbook on time , and also gets to add their own creative spin on their pages . We wanted to add catchy titles to this year ’ s book , as well as keep a theme based book . I am so proud of this year ’ s group who helped to win this award .”
Jostens has produced school yearbooks for over 60 years . They encourage students through their resources to develop 21st century skills in journalism , photography , writing , and design , along with leadership and business skills . At the Bellefonte Area School District , students and staff follow the district ’ s mission to inspire and prepare today ’ s learners to embrace tomorrow ’ s challenges . Learning the technology , leadership , and business skills involved in Mr . Weigold ’ s class is helping these students do just that . The district is very proud of their efforts , and it looks forward to the upcoming school year edition and the design and efforts that the students and their adviser will produce .
