Step 1 Measure the circumference and height of your cake. Add an extra inch to your measurements. Apply a thin layer of solite all over your dummy tier or ganached cake, making sure the entire surface area where fondant is to be adhered, is covered.
Step 2 With a touch of CMC mixed in with your fondant, cover the top of your cake, and roll out your fondant sheet using the dimensions you’ ve taken in step one. Let it sit while you make your icing mix.
Step 3 Royal icing: Add enough water until you reach a tooth paste consistency.
Step 4
Position your stencil on top of your fondant sheet, keeping in mind where you’ d like your stencil to sit. And have your tools handy – royal icing mix, palette knife and scraper.
Step 5 Step 6 Using your palette knife, spread the icing mix over your stencil – you will need to ensure your stencil does not move. Once there is enough icing mix, the stencil will automatically adhere to your fondant.
Once you have covered the pattern on your stencil with a thin layer of icing, using your scraper, begin to scrape off the excess icing – cleaning your scraper after every scrape.
