Step 4 Practice Piping Foliage Vines To pipe the vines, use your piping bag half filled with COPHA pure white frosting and the Loyal # 5 round tip. This is the same technique as the shell border only on a smaller scale and with precise placement of each“ leaf”. They look like small raindrops. Start by piping the first leaf which is the centre leaf, and then pipe alternate leaves along the“ stem”( not present on the practise board)
Step 5
Lastly, practice the texture palette knife techniques. Add COPHA pure white frosting in small amounts. Using your palette knife, add a small scoop of frosting to one side of the knife. Press and swipe with the rounded edge. Hold the rounded palette knife at a shallow angle against the cake. Gently press the frosting down, then swipe off in a curved or downward motion, depending on the texture you’ re after. Think of it like painting— you ' re creating soft, organic movements.
Vary your pressure. Use more pressure for thin, subtle texture, and less pressure for bolder, thicker strokes. Build up layers for dimension.. Step back and assess. Texture can look uneven up close, but beautiful from a distance— so don’ t overwork it!
Pro Tip: Start with a small amount— you can always build it up.
