We all agree that this new mechanical movement is fantastic. Something to stem the arms race. The games have less shooting lanes and more movement and communication. It’s awesome and so much fun! Even new players that have probably never shot a mechanical marker are buying non-electrics to join in on the fun. It’s perfect! of hockey or bread out of a sandwich. When you try, you get a weak sauce version of the original that nobody likes. You simply can’t. But there always must be “that guy”. The one who wants a competitive edge. Arguably an unfair, bend the rules kind of edge. That’s just paintball though. Hell, that’s just life! As I talk to various people about this new mini arms race within the mechanical movement the drama is escalating. It seems to be one of the most prevalent complaints right now in paintball. “That goes against the principle of the movement!” “It defeats the purpose!” “The whole point is to slow guns down!” “If mech guns can easily shoot 8+ balls a second, why are electro’s capped at 5.5?!?!” “You can’t use an Automag, it’s trigger is an RT!” and the comments just go on, and on, and on…. And I get it. Not only do I get it, but I completely agree. The point of the mechanical movement is to slow paintball guns down and make teamwork and communication skills key. The problem is that you can’t, and I mean CAN’T stop people from wanting to upgrade and tinker with guns. That’s like trying to take fighting out 050 paintball.media magazine
