CREAMERY AND LEUCAN TEAM UP
The month of September , Coaticook Creamery is teaming up with Leucan , which is an organization that helps children and their families cope with the many ups and downs related to cancer treatments . Coaticook Creamery has decided share the profits of their two-liter vanilla ice cream sales with Leucan .
Ice cream has many benefits to children suffering with cancer and having treatments – it helps soothe nausea related to chemotherapy treatments , it helps with the ulcers that can form in the mouth during treatments , its first-grade ingredients help children gain back the lost weight during and after chemotherapy , and above all it is very tasty and calming for all .
This week we paid a visit to the Coaticook Creamery and spoke with Roxanne Provencher , assistant in marketing and creator of the logo on the vanilla ice cream containers for this monthlong fund raising event . We asked , “ Why vanilla ?” We were told the vanilla is their biggest seller , and it will help more children that way .
If you are up in the Coaticook area and want to help support this cause , everyone is welcome to drop in at their Creamery located at 1000 Child Street and enjoy a cool treat .

A VISIT TO FERME LE SABOT D ’ OR
Last Sunday we stopped in at the Ferme le Sabot d ' Or Red Deer Farm just outside the village of Cookshire at 976 Rte 253 . We arrived to be greeted by owners Gervais Therrien and Christiane Richard . These people got their start at raising English red deer in October 2009 after selling off several horses and buying five males , twelve females and six fawns from a breeder in Sainte- Sophie d ' Halifax , Que . The very first fawn born on the farm was in June 2010 and this farm has

grown ever since that day . They now have about 50 deer .
The owners work very hard with these deer to keep them calm and easy to handle . Christiane went out with a pail of corn and shook it . They came running for treats . These deer will eat right out of your hand if you want . The bucks are a bit more timid but they do come up close . We counted the points on one buck and we think it was 13 . There ' s one bigger buck there . He doesn ' t come to close and he sometimes isn ’ t happy to see visitors . It was a very nice experience to have these deer literally a foot from you and hear the talk

between the deer – just like a whitetail , but you seldom get that close to a whitetail .
These folks also sell deer meat , which is done right at the farm by Gervais . This farm is located about half way between Cookshire and East Angus right on Rte . 253 – the same road you take coming into Canada at Beecher Falls .

LENNOXVILLE STREET FEST
The Town of Lennoxville came to life Saturday with the holding of the 7th annual Lennoxville Street Fest . The fun all kicked off at 10 a . m . after Queen St . was closed to traffic and close to 120 tables were set up and filled with area crafts . Handmade crafts , honey , unique gifts , old time games , street painting , and even Lennoxville Dentist Simon Roy got in on the action by passing out tooth brushes and water .
Along the street we found all sorts of activities ranging from old time games to a place where the public could try their hand at drums . We came upon a truly unique type of craft . Nicole Labbe of Sherbrooke has found a use for old records – she makes purses out of them . We also stopped at the Lennoxville Community Aid display where we found Volunteers Liz Warlund and Angela Moore greeting the public and telling about just what they do daily to help the community . This group consists of hundreds that prepare Meals on Wheels , check on the elderly , and just be a friend to all .
We also visited the music stages to find Janis Graham , Ron Haseltine and many others entertaining . Lennoxville certain came to life with thousands attending a day of fun , music and fellowship . We will be looking forward to next year ’ s Street Fest .
