ENJOY DIWALI
8 November
The festival of lights is around the corner – more than a billion people observe Diwali( as it’ s referred to in Northern India) or Deepavali( the common spelling in the south), the annual festival in the Hindu calendar that celebrates the power of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. It’ s a time for getting together with loved ones, taking part in rituals and enjoying traditional foods. If you’ re celebrating for the first time, or enjoying some yearly customs, Costco warehouses have plenty of options for a feast. Start with Sabrini Paneer Tikka Samosa( Item 275176) or serve up Lal Qilla Classic Whiteline Basmati Rice 20kg( Item 276651) or Haldiram Garlic Naan Bread( Item 273416) to complete the meal.
HALLOWEEN HISTORY
31 October
While you may associate Halloween with the United States, the holiday actually has roots in Ireland and Scotland. The Celtic festival Samhain, which dates back at least 2000 years, originally commemorated the end of the harvest and welcomed winter. A common activity involved children going from door to door and singing or reciting poems in exchange for food in a precursor to trick-or-treating. Embrace the history of this sweet tradition by stocking up on Monster Mash Chocolate with Gummies 2.48kg( Item 2056395), Amos Sweets Halloween Pumpkin 1kg( Item 229705) or Ten Acre Gifts Assorted Halloween Treats 2kg( Item 648670) from Costco warehouses and satisfy any spooky visitors who come knocking.
