Abattoir sales increased compared to the previous year due to higher average selling prices , although volumes slaughtered at Ramskop Abattoir ( closed during the current year ) and Carnarvon Abattoir were significantly lower than the previous year . Upington Abattoir slaughtered more than the previous year , driven by Namibian volumes .
SA Dorper performed marginally better than the previous year . The results were impacted by fewer skins sold , although at a higher average selling price . SA Dorper was negatively impacted by lower quality skins because of abnormal grass and weed seeds , due to good rains , which resulted in damaged skins . More hides were processed compared to the previous year .
