TABLE TENNIS

A relatively new sport for us, but our U13 boys bring competitive glory to Sevenoaks.

At the beginning of the season, a good run of individual successes saw a series of top 10 Kent finishes, including an impressive all-Sevenoaks podium for the U13 boys. Additionally, the U13 boys’ team performed brilliantly, not only winning the Kent final but proceeding to win both regional rounds, before finishing an incredible second place at the national finals.
Across this season, our team have played many great matches. To begin with, we were all a bit nervous and unsure about how all these matches would play out, but as our wins continued, we gained confidence. We continued to get closer to the national finals, but I think it was very important that we kept the correct mindset was that we never were overconfident. I would say to myself,‘ It’ s great that we got to this
point, but I don’ t think I will advance to the next stage.’ This kind of humility was what really allowed us to play to our full potential.
The Sevenoaks team consisted of many amazing players. We gave each other support and help when the matches were tough and without that we would not be where we are right now. I know I am grateful for such a kind and supportive team. I remember there was one match when I was struggling to win; I came back to get a drink of water after the first set and there was the whole team urging me on.
We are really pleased with what we achieved this season and can’ t wait to do even better in the next one. I am really excited to see where table tennis will take us next!
