TENNIS
Success at the county tournament and strong showings against some of the UK’ s top tennis schools.
Our senior girls had their best results for a number of years in the Aberdare Cup. They very narrowly lost to a strong Bede’ s team in an eliminator to reach the national finals in Nottingham. They had good wins against King’ s Canterbury, Benenden and Newstead Woods to reach the last round.
In the LTA Youth Schools Leagues, the U15 boys’ team competed extremely well against one of the top tennis schools in the UK but lost to Ewell Castle School in the regional knockouts. The team then went on to win Division One. The U15 and U13 girls also both lost in the regional knockouts to St George’ s College and Surbiton High School, and girls’ teams have also won their division.
We had great success in the Kent Schools Doubles this year, particularly the girls’ teams, with first place finishes for our seniors Simran Sahota and Maggie Hunter, U15s Tasia Nahornaya and Isa McLain, and U13s Milla Bray and Eva Vitorino Hiietamm.
At the Eton Junior Pairs, our U15 boys Huw Morgan, Cyrus Hui, Vadim Uvarov and Julien Beck came third. They were so close to being finalists, needing only one more point to force a shootout against Hampton School.
We also had success at the National Girls Schools’ Doubles Tournament at Wycombe Abbey where Isa McLain and Lola Bray won the U14s( pictured right). Sevenoaks pairs have won this title for the last three years.
It has been a great year for Sevenoaks School tennis. Well done to all players.
