Being part of the Sevenoaks swimming team has been one of the most memorable aspects of my time at school so far. As a boarder, I choose to do all my training at school, and it’ s become a highlight of my week. The combination of great coaching and friendships has made every session something I look forward to. While the sessions are almost always fun, I’ m constantly challenged and still seeing progress with my swimming.
Beyond training, I’ ve come to love the competitions we take part in throughout the year. From local Monday night galas, to major national events, like the Bath and Otter Cup, the Sevenoaks team spirit is always there, creating a supportive and motivating environment. The Bath and Otter Cup( pictured far left) stood out as one of my favourite events this year. While it was intense and a bit overwhelming with schools attending from across the UK, it was a very exciting and a memorable event in my Sevenoaks swimming career.
In my opinion, what makes swimming at Sevenoaks special is the sense of community it brings. Training and competing brings students from different year groups together, allowing friendships to be created. The encouragement and support shown, regardless of age or ability, creates friendships that extend beyond the pool. Over the past two years, many of my closest friendships have started with swimming and the community has become one of my favourite parts of my sport at Sevenoaks.
