JANELLE WHITMAN
For someone with a‘ no fun allowed’ sign hung prominently in her laboratory, Janelle injects a huge amount of innovation, creativity and fun into her teaching. While she has fallen victim to the curse of the Year 7 scheme of work( whoever updates it is invariably the next to leave), she leaves it so packed full of engaging and enriching activities that other members of the department may be kept safe from the curse for years to come.
Janelle has supported a great number of trips during her time at Sevenoaks, her questionable sense of direction not causing her to be the liability that it was feared she might be. Instead, she has introduced students to her repertoire of travel games, preserving the sanity of many colleagues on flights and long coach journeys.
Away from school, being friends with Janelle has always been a great adventure that has seen us running from muggers in Barcelona and running through Stansted to catch a flight to Sorrento.
The Chemistry department will greatly miss Janelle’ s unconventional wisdom, innovative resources and delicious baking. We wish her all the very best as she moves to Düsseldorf to be closer to her partner.
