William Sevenoke and his Almshouses by former Undermaster Mike Bolton MBE explores the history of the Sevenoaks Almshouses, which were founded with the school in 1432. Mike also had an essay,‘ A Den of Darkness and Cruelty: The Sevenoaks Workhouse Scandal 1841 – 2’, published in Archaeologia Cantiana.
To Hell with Poverty!( Constable) is the memoir of Gang of Four frontman Jon King( OS 1973). It documents his story from a south London slum to international success as a musician, lyricist, writer and producer.
