OS SPORT
With most of us living and working in London, it’ s very tricky to find the time to play team sports. We’ ve very grateful to the Foundation for sponsoring us yet again, and also for instilling a love of sport which makes showing up to the games so important to us!
We are always looking for new members so if any Old Sennockians are keen, please reach out to us and bring your friends. We would love to have you join us.

NETBALL
In September, the Old Sennockians Netball Club entered their second season in the Go Mammoth Waterloo league, and as previous league winners we had a strong reputation to protect. Our team was bolstered by new members, including Flossie Coumbe and additional appearances from Zoe Eifion-Jones( both OS 2019). But other than a few new faces, the team remained much the same.
Frequently, it took us a while to find our feet, with some of us not having played since our Sevenoaks days. But we always managed to find our rhythm and were delighted to finish the season top of the league. A special mention goes out to Tilly Robson( OS 2019), without whom our goal count would be a fraction of what it was. And a huge thank you to Claudia Whaites( OS 2019) for stepping up as vice-captain and social sec.
It is wonderful to be able to get a group of girls together for a game on a Tuesday night. When many of us have rushed from the office, it’ s such a highlight to be able to get some exercise in the evening, but more than anything, to catch up with girls we played so frequently with at school.
This summer, the Old Guard embarked on their 17th rugby tour, venturing to the beautiful city of Verona. The Guard fielded two teams for the OffBeat7s Rugby Tournament, with Old Sennockians from 2024 leavers all the way back to the Class of 2006.
In a blistering 34C heat, both teams donned the red and white jersey to play their hearts out against a mixture of other old boy teams and local Italian rugby clubs. With a close-fought loss to the eventual winners of the tournament, the 1st VII were successful in making the plate final, and victorious in their endeavours to win the silverware. The Cavalry 2nd VII performed valiantly, but were plagued by injuries, which cost them, as the tournament drew to a close.
After the rugby had concluded, the touring party of 29 OS shared some sociable moments, reminiscing on their time spent at school, past tours abroad and plans for the future.
The following day, the aching bodies soaked up the sights of Verona, including the Romeo and Juliet Balcony, the Opera Arena and the stunning piazza. A well-deserved lunch at the top of the city, overlooking the campagna, was delightfully received and saw the tour out in splendid fashion.
The Old Guard’ s success relies on the continued support of OS and therefore we encourage any members of the school rugby team to make contact after leaving Sevenoaks.
