The trip also brought countless unforgettable experiences , from seeing black bears and orcas to celebrating a last-minute victory for our U18s in Kamloops . Our adventures included paddleboarding , kayaking and canoeing , a refreshing swim in the glacier waters of Lake Louise , zipping through Whistler at 70mph , and immersing ourselves in the lively atmosphere of the Calgary Stampede .
CANADA RUGBY TOUR
They say that sports tours create memories that last a lifetime , and this one certainly lived up to that promise . Our incredible journey began in Calgary and took us through Banff , Revelstoke , Kamloops , Vancouver and Victoria .
The students were outstanding ambassadors for the school , displaying exemplary conduct throughout . They embraced the pre-season preparation , gaining a head start on tactical , technical and physical training . Several boys showcased their versatility by playing for both the U16s and U18s , with standout performances from Ted Smith ( U16 ), who earned the Player of the Tour award . David Abobade , Ben Hunter and Liam Record also shone on the rugby field , and we eagerly anticipate what this group will achieve in the upcoming season .
A special mention goes to tour captain Arthuro Stephan . His leadership , dedication and high standards inspired the team , creating an environment where everyone felt comfortable and motivated to excel . Arthuro ’ s commitment to wearing the Sevenoaks badge with pride set a powerful example .
The two weeks flew by , but they left us with wonderful memories and new friendships that will undoubtedly strengthen our bonds on the rugby field . In summary , can we go on tour every year ?

LOWER SCHOOL RUGBY
This year we have played a lot of rugby , starting with rugby union in the first half of the Lent term and transitioning into sevens for the second half . We also enjoyed our after-school sessions on Monday evenings . We have taken part in a wealth of fixtures and tournaments , such as at Somerhill , Sevenoaks Prep , Danes Hill , Windlesham House , Judd and Rosslyn Park .
Despite sevens being a different game from union , our team adapted well to the new , faster-paced style of play . I think I can speak for everyone when I say we were disappointed when the season came to an end . However , we still like to get a rugby ball from the sports office at lunch time , to practise in the hope of being ready for next season . Throughout the Summer term we also played Friday touch rugby after school which was a great opportunity to play with older , more experienced players and to develop skills .
Some of the team not only play at school , but also for the local club , Sevenoaks Rugby . Playing outside school reinforces the fundamental skills and encourages teamwork , which is a great transferable skill that can be beneficial back at school .
I enjoy rugby because not only is it about physicality and intensity but it ’ s also about teamwork and communication among teammates . It is important that these things are part of our game , as without them , making progress is considerably harder as a team both on and off the pitch .
