THE CAST
I was part of the Odyssey cast and I can honestly say this was one of the most rewarding experiences .
Rehearsals were filled with all sorts : singing , dancing , turning into pigs … We all bonded over the mistakes and triumphs of rehearsals ; they were a delightful mix of chaos and creativity . I loved learning the harmonies , as when all the layers were put together it created a sensational atmosphere .
And of course , there was the mysterious Odyssey cough that everyone was plagued with just before opening night . Who was patient zero ? No one knows but despite that we all put on an amazing show . Our remedy was hot water – endless cups of it !
The anticipation before the first performance was electric . Backstage , everyone ’ s hearts were racing , palms were sweating . The adrenaline created an exhilarating yet nerve-racking atmosphere , but we supported one another and whispered words of encouragement from backstage . The sense of community between the cast and the teachers was so strong .
The last night was a bittersweet moment . Tears were accompanied with applause and laughter during the final bows as there was a sense of accomplishment , yet we all knew we were going to miss performing and seeing each other . I think I speak for everyone in the cast when I say it was an amazing experience shared with equally amazing people .
