CAMERON KIGGELL
Cameron ‘ Captain ’ Kiggell arrived at Sevenoaks in 2003 . With his wife , Julia , teaching in the Music department and their daughter , Helena , joining us in Year 7 in 2016 , for many years we had the pleasure of the whole Kiggell family in the school . It was not long before Cameron moved into pastoral care as he was appointed Housemaster of Lambardes ( the then boarding house for Years 7 and 8 ) in 2005 , and in 2017 , to the role of Divisional Head in the Middle School .
Following an eight-year career in the army , and no doubt partly as a result , Cameron brought with him a great sense of fun , teamwork , energy and steady unflappability . A popular and entertaining teacher of Economics , Cameron ’ s career at Sevenoaks is really characterised by his wide-ranging contribution to so many areas of school life . He is a dependable team player and therefore in huge demand . Whether you need someone who is happy out in all weathers to coach sport , manage the military operation that is 180 Year 10s on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition , conjure up a Middle School assembly at a moment ’ s notice , crowd control on school trips or train army cadets in the CCF , Cameron is your man . Not only that , but he does it all with unfailing cheerfulness and positivity .
While happy to lend other colleagues the sort of reliable and calm support that is invaluable in schools , it was inevitable that Cameron would be promoted to a position of leadership in pastoral care . Not only does he have a terrific rapport with teenagers , but he is also a true champion of them . He looks for the best in them , encourages them to be the best version of themselves and when things go wrong , he responds with kindness , understanding , patience and reassurance . A cheerful chap of great bonhomie , Cameron will be greatly missed , and the school will be quieter without him ! – but we wish him , Julia and Helena every happiness as they move up north to embark on new adventures .
