GIRLS
The girls were brilliantly represented , with teams in Years 9 , 10 and senior level all competing in friendly and county level fixtures and playing some excellent football .
The 1st XI went unbeaten in the Michaelmas term until meeting their arch-rivals , ACS Cobham , who are regarded as the standout team in south-east England , in the last week of term ; despite missing a few key players they pushed an exceptionally strong ACS team all the way and the 0-3 scoreline certainly did not reflect how tight the game was .
The 1st XI continued with their great run of results from the Michaelmas term and finished as runnersup in the Bradfield Sevens tournament . The highlight of the season was an outstanding 2-1 win over ACS Cobham . The first goal , a Cruyff-like volley by Camilla Eerdmans after a blistering run by Sophie Gildemeister , drew fulsome praise from the Cobham coach and reminded us that Sophie , who won the Golden Boot with 22 goals , is an unselfish player who sets up plenty of goals for others .
Camilla Eerdmans was awarded Most Valuable Player , an award none disputed , such was her commitment , skill and courage in every match . The Most Promising Newcomer award was effectively backdated to allow Payton Hawkins to receive recognition for being such a fine twelfth player for two full seasons in an excellent side . Captain ’ s and Vice-Captain ’ s Prizes were awarded to Maya Goodrich and Olivia Pigram respectively , and the Goalkeeper ’ s Prize was awarded to Julia Metzler for a number of outstanding displays .
Huge congratulations must also go to both Bethan Thomas and Anjola Adekoya , who were selected to play for Charlton Athletic U15s in the 2023-24 season .
We bid a sad farewell to several stalwarts in the Upper Sixth : Charlie Peters , Anvi Savant , PJ Birt , Jessica Fleming , Imogen Moran and Morven White .
