There was a huge amount of success across the board this year , the highlight undoubtedly being the 1st XI making it through to the final of the U19 Kent Cup .
In the Michaelmas term the junior boys performed admirably , and once again every boy in Years 7 and 8 represented the school in at least one fixture . The 1st XI team gained some valuable momentum in the Michaelmas term and , unusually , the squad remained largely the same in the following term .
As we moved into the Lent term , the main football term , we saw numbers exceed anything that we have seen before . We were able to comfortably put out six senior teams and had over 90 boys choose football in Year 9 !
The 1st XI beat some very strong opposition on their way to the Kent Cup final , which was played at Herne Bay FC against Beths Grammar School . It was an incredible achievement to make the final and was a great experience to play on the 3G surface . Our boys put in a performance that they can all be proud of . In the end , the experience and clinical display from Beth ’ s Grammar saw them come away as worthy winners . The 1st XI captain , Cameron Brayne , was again selected for the U18 ISFA boys ’ national team .
My thanks go to all staff and students who have committed and supported the football programme so well over the year . Particular thanks and recognition should go to our leaving Upper Sixth students , many of whom have represented the school since joining in Year 7 and have been fantastic role models to those in the younger years .
