Among the other age groups , the Year 8 team won the Basketball England South-East Junior NBA finals and the U14 and U15 teams both came third in the LISBA finals .

BOYS
The senior team had to overcome a lot of adversity and challenges , and our season started with several major losses . This all changed when we beat Whitgift , several times London Independent School Basketball Association ( LISBA ) champions , for the first time in some years . With this , the myth that we couldn ’ t succeed was shattered and we qualified for the LISBA league !
Against all odds , we defeated league leaders , Dulwich , on their home court in the semi-finals . During the final , we remained composed against City of London , taking the lead in the first seconds of the game , and defending it fiercely . We won , shocking everyone from our opponents to the referees , who couldn ’ t believe the transformation our team had made in just a few short months .
This season has left a winning atmosphere that the younger players will certainly carry and make Sevenoaks a consistent contender in the league . Our coach , Dimitri , brought the best out of everyone on the team and made us believe in things that once seemed impossible to us . He gave us memories and friendships we will never forget . Keep on keeping on !
GIRLS
Stefan Prokopiev , Upper Sixth
This year , I joined the basketball team ; I have really enjoyed learning new skills and training . I had played a little basketball with my brothers previously , but had never been to a formal training session , so I was slightly nervous at first . However , everyone was very kind and helpful ; we went through all the simple skills and worked our way up with encouragement from our coach Dimitri .
We played a game against The American School in London . For many of us , it was our first basketball game ever , but all the girls who had played before helped us a lot . It was a tough game , but everyone kept their heads up and stayed positive . Although we lost , we all had a lot of fun and learned from the experience . It would be great if more girls could join the team ; basketball is a very energetic game , where everyone can get involved .
