BADMINTON

With a passionate team of players we increased our fixtures list , travelling far and wide across Kent and beyond .

What a fabulous year of badminton we have had ! With an incredibly enthusiastic squad of players , we probably played more fixtures than we have ever played before , travelling far and wide across Kent and beyond . With a great deal of talent and commitment from the players , we enjoyed considerable success in matches , winning virtually everything . The squad was ably led by Alston Xu and Matthew Lam , with Matthew playing most of the season with his non-playing arm in a sling , yet still winning most of his matches . Although we dominated most of the fixtures against other schools , we also had a fabulous match against The Judd School , where the quality of badminton was extremely high and a joy to watch , though we narrowly lost .
It was great to see so many students eager to play as part of the B team and the progression of these players throughout the year was fabulous in terms of both badminton skills and tactical awareness to win matches .
We say goodbye to half our A team this year – Alston , Matthew and Hao Ping Yao – but the future of badminton is secure for the next few years with a talented trio of Lower Sixth players eager to take over the reins and a group of exceptional Year 10 players coming through .
