EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
Our relationship with the Sevenoaks Partnership of Primary Schools continues as actively as ever , with primary children visiting Sevenoaks School weekly for sessions in drama , design technology , music , sport , art and science . Concurrently , minibuses of Sevenoaks students arrive at primary schools to run sessions in chess , history , robotics , sport , reading and IT , as well as offer general classroom support .
The KAN ( Kent Academies Network ) spring residential weekend here was a celebration of KAN ’ s tenth anniversary . The timetable included printmaking , wellbeing sessions , a screening of Puccini ’ s Turandot accompanied by a talk by choreographer Kate Flatt OBE , and afternoon activities such as archery , swimming and yoga . Mentors and volunteer teachers taught a variety of lessons such as poetry , marine biology , classics , the LGBTQ Pride movement , film narrative and the climate crisis . The second ever KAN alumni dinner took place in March . It is a pleasure to see the relationships forged between alumni . This year alumna and mentor Chloe gave a moving testimony of her experience of KAN .
EQUITY , DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION SERVICE GROUPS
We have served a breadth of local community partnerships this year . Students have held collection drives to support those in need , including a book drive for the Acorn Book Club , a hygiene bank collection , a food bank collection , a tennis racket collection , and a winter clothing collection . As you will read in the following pages , we have continued our support for Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees . The Thursday service group Bridging Ages visits care homes and supports older people , and a music performance group has performed to seniors in care homes throughout the year . Pride Society continues to support our internal LGBTQ + community , and played a key role in organising this year ’ s Festival of Love . As we welcome our new Director of the Institute of Service and Partnerships , Kathy O ’ Donnell ( OS 2005 ), we look forward to further advancing Service and Partnership educational provision as we approach Sevenoaks 600 .
