JACKY BURRELL
I first met Jacky ( pictured above , second from left ) in June 1994 when she joined the school as secretary to the Bursar and Clerk of Governors , Julian Patrick ( including interim staff , there have been five bursars and six heads during Jacky ’ s tenure , which is quite something ). Jacky ’ s role included typing , filing , keeping the work diary , dealing with enquiries from accounts , coordinating outside lets and bookings and arranging accommodation for staff and visiting teachers . Word processors were just starting , there were no emails then and barely a mobile phone to be seen . How things have changed !
Previously Jacky had worked for the Home Office , ran a busy London pub , worked for the Guardian and for a firm of chartered accountants . Spending nearly three decades at the school , she has seen many changes and contributed so much . Later Jacky moved to Operations where her expertise , knowledge and skills were put to great use also .
Jacky is enthusiastic , insightful , well organised and supportive . Her sense of knowing what was right could always be relied upon as she was ready to give sound advice and a listening ear when needed . Warm and funny , often with a twinkle in her eye and an infectious laugh , Jacky instilled a smile in all who knew her . She loves her quizzes , home décor , fancy dress parties and singing in Rock Choir , as well as playing netball and going for long walks in the countryside .

We say au revoir as she heads off to her new life with husband Thomas and family and we wish them well on their travels enjoying adventures with their bell tent ! So enormously respected and loved – thank you Jacky , for making the world a brighter place .
