CORRISSA COLLIER
We are very sad to say goodbye to Corrissa . She joined us in 2012 , moving to teaching from her previous career as a communications consultant . She was immediately a great asset to the school , bringing skilled classroom practice , innovative thinking and a calm presence to the Classics department . Over 11 years she has also made invaluable contributions to the Model United Nations team , the Institute of Teaching and Learning , the trips programme , form tutoring and admissions . Corrissa has also directed and co-directed a number of school plays ; the thoughtful staging and powerful impact of her production of Euripides ’ Hecuba was especially memorable .
Corrissa ’ s most significant contribution to the school has come in recent years as Director of Learning Support . Taking over this crucial role in the middle of a pandemic should have been a daunting task , but Corrissa took the reins with her usual brilliant competency , personal warmth and incisive thinking . It is surely because of Corrissa ’ s leadership that recent Upper Sixth leavers cited the Learning Support department as the aspect of the school they have valued the most .
I am personally grateful for the support Corrissa has given me – in the Classics department , in the MUN , and more recently as Director of Learning Support . She is a great colleague , and I will miss her hugely . I will look back fondly on all our many school trips together , in the UK , the Netherlands and Italy , and my Corrissa-led education in global cuisine .
We wish her the very best as she and her family move to Liverpool . Chris Taylor
JACK JARVIS
The PE and Sport department and the whole school community bid farewell to a beloved figure . It is with a mix of joy for the Jarvis household , as they embark on new adventures in Bahrain , but a tinge of sadness that we say goodbye to somebody who has left an indelible mark on both staff and students alike .
Jack possesses traits such as patience , kindness , and an ability to connect with others on an individual level , and therefore found his passion in helping others within education . Jack completed his teacher training and soon arrived at Sevenoaks with an esteemed reputation , becoming notorious for his ability to wear a gilet in all weathers ( Bahrain may prove trickier ), but also as the largerthan-life character who would make the best of every situation . Jack has dedicated his time , energy and passion to numerous responsibilities over the years , but his biggest impact has come through touching the lives of many involved with both sport and the boarding community .
Previously in charge of swimming , Jack realised that he ’ d outgrown his speedos and decided to relinquish this role to become Head of Football , and he ’ s certainly pushed the programme to new heights . Recording its highest ever participation numbers , along
