RUGBY : AMSTERDAM SEVENS
We fielded two teams of 36 tourists and leavers from 2004 to 2022 ( the Old Guard and the Cavalry ) at the Amsterdam Sevens two-day rugby tournament in June . The Old Guard topped the group on the first day , with strong wins of 21-12 and 28-21 against South African and French sides . Despite being down to four players at some points , we managed to hold on and finished ninth out of 34 teams after day one .
Conversely , The Cavalry struggled to find their rhythm on day one but played with some of the best flair seen on day two , coming away with a 19-10 win against Haslemere and raising the spirits of the squad . The second day also saw a great effort and heroic performance from our first team who narrowly lost 12-14 against RC Mété , a strong French side .
At the end of the day , we gathered to watch the finals which displayed some brilliant joué from teams across the globe . A notable moment was the veteran tens game between Tonga and New Zealand which produced an outstanding spectacle .
We look forward to touring next summer and always welcome newcomers or returners . If you would like to get involved please contact the Old Sennockians .

CORNAH CUP SAILING REGATTA
On Saturday 24 July , we hosted the inaugural Cornah Cup at Bough Beech Sailing Club , to mark Andy Cornah ’ s 14 years as Head of Sailing . Andy is taking up the position of head coach at Tabor Academy , USA .
Jesse Elzinga started the racing , consisting of mixed pairs teams with OS spanning 14 years alongside current students . We had sunshine and light wind sailing conditions and the students certainly gave the old-timers a run for their money ! After managing 28 races in shifty conditions , the results were :
1st : Andy Cornah and Federico Roma ( OS 2018 )
Joint 2nd : Cossie Lewis ( OS 2019 ) and Annabel Richards ( OS 2019 )
Mark Taylor ( OS 2007 ) and Alex Beddoes ( OS 2004 )
4th : Martin Atilla and Odette Mead ( Sixth Form ) 5th :
Ed Haynes ( OS 2015 ) and Tom Smith ( OS 2018 )
The sailing was followed by a fantastic barbecue , and it was brilliant to see so many OS sharing stories of their time at Sevenoaks . It was a testament to the inspiration Andy has been for so many young sailors .
We plan for the Cornah Cup to be an annual event , so please let Rich Sheridan know if you ’ d like to participate next year .
