YEAR 8 TRIP TO GREECE
From Ancient Tiryns to a boat ride , or just relaxing at the beach – the Lower School ’ s final trip was a bonding experience . Having fun with almost all of Year 8 isn ’ t something we get to do a lot , so the memories are even more important .
While the majority of us will have different ideas on what the best part of the trip was , we all agree it was plenty of fun . From diving for shells , dunking others in the water , or creating massive holes or sandcastles , we were all looking forward to our daily trip to the beach . We spent part of our days also learning about Ancient Greece , the history of the sites , such as Nemea and the Acropolis , and the myths connected to them .
Another great memory was the boat trip – we all loved going around the islands , and the extra time outside of the hotel made everything a wonderful adventure . That , as well as enjoying great food and a lovely breeze !
One of our absolute favourite places to discover was Nafplio , a fortress on a 216m high hill . Not everyone was that happy about climbing up 1000 stairs , though this seems impossible now as we will never forget the gorgeous views and the way Nafplio was built – simply breathtaking .
Leaving Lower School was something some of us might not have been too excited about , but this trip helped cement friendships for the future . We were scared of changes , of the new responsibilities , wondering what would happen , but Greece was such an experience , we are now sure this isn ’ t goodbye . We are ready for the changes , because we are resilient and well-equipped , exactly as we were when we reached the top of Nafplio and looked back at each of the steps we had taken , one at a time .
So , as we all prepare to leave the comforts of Year 8 , we want to thank the school and the teachers for everything they did to give us an exciting and memorable year . Thank you to all the staff involved in the trip planning and for giving us an amazing time – something I am sure we will all remember . Finally , thank you to the school for providing the trip and the parents , who entrusted the school with their kids .
