JULIE ROWLEY
Julie joined Sevenoaks in 2018 after completing her Mathematics degree at Cambridge . She is an engaging and thoughtful teacher . Her mathematical knowledge was respected by all in the department , and she could never resist a demanding problem . She was dedicated to all her pupils , able to support , nurture and challenge them , and enrich their understanding . She helped prepare students for UKMT challenges such as the British Mathematical Olympiad for girls , and enjoyed making resources which motivated and inspired them .
Julie gave one hundred per cent to all aspects of school life , including helping out in Johnsons and Aisher boarding houses . Julie is half Japanese , half French and taught the boys Japanese during her evenings with the boarding students , as well as helping them with their maths . Julie has added so much to the department in the past four years and will be sorely missed by all . She leaves Sevenoaks to develop her other love in life , her family , and we wish her every happiness .

MUNGO WALLS
Mungo immediately established himself at Sevenoaks through his candour , humour , enthusiastic teaching of Chemistry and trademark red trousers . Despite having something of a fierce reputation and being a driving force behind maintaining standards , he is a compassionate and caring teacher who shows genuine interest in all aspects of his students ’ endeavours .
As a former boarder himself , he provided intuitive support and advice in Aisher House , generous with his time and always willing to go the extra mile . He also knew instinctively when the boys were inclined to misbehave !
It will come as no surprise that he was a pillar of the CCF . His OTC knowledge enabled him to lead fieldcraft lessons , assist on exercises and camps , and deliver an exceptional experience to our cadets . More unusual are his exceptional bagpipe skills – sometimes heard in the Science and Technology Centre in the evening – as he is banned from practising at home ! However , his playing is so well regarded that he performed at a royal party .
Most enduring though , is Mungo ’ s friendship . He is always ready with a smile and will be missed by the whole Sevenoaks community .

FENELLA COURNANE
Ballet dancer , philosopher , accountant , wife , mother of three daughters , the founder of a Chinese summer school , and then finally Registrar at Sevenoaks School , Fenella has been an absolute joy to work with over the past 12 years . Every one of the students who joined the school before the Lower Sixth will have benefited from her quick , clear and helpful communications during their admissions process , and many have developed closer relationships with her during her time as Lower School tutor , a role she particularly enjoyed and which gave her extra knowledge about the school , on top of her experience as the mother of two OS , Phoebe and Flora . She helped to shape the policies and procedures of our admissions processes , and her incisiveness , eye for detail and grammatical accuracy have ensured that these have become smoother . She has worked with students , support and teaching staff across the school and is enormously respected by all who know her . Fenella , we hope you will now add walker , reader , bridge and tennis player , gardener , attender of cultural events and regular luncher with your ex-colleagues to your list of roles ! Thank you for everything you have done for us !
