FABIENNE CHEUNG
Fabienne ( aka Dr Fab ) has taught at Sevenoaks School for four years and has been a breath of fresh air for the French department and an inspiration for many students . After completing her MA at Oxford and her PhD studies at the University of Manchester , Fabienne joined us , quickly becoming an inspirational , caring and motivating teacher . One year later she had completed her PGCE and became Head of French ; a meteoric rise in her career and a great credit to her ability to learn .
Fabienne is an all-rounder and was in her element running literature workshops , running in Knole Park with the cross country team or running MUN trips . One would think it is difficult to get credibility discussing Maupassant while wearing running shorts and muddy trainers but she somehow managed to pull it off . Fabienne ’ s sense of humour , bubbly personality , boundless energy and organisational skills will be greatly missed in the department and I am sure she will continue to be a great source of inspiration for many students in the future .

NICOLA GLOVER
Described by Theresa Homewood as ‘ one of her stars ’ during her first year at Sevenoaks , Nicola ’ s dynamic future was correctly predicted . Not just talented in the classroom , her organisational abilities were quickly put to use to shape the Lower School Mathematics curriculum . She cheerfully supervised students undertaking DofE expeditions , as a Lowland Leader and Expedition Assessor . She also made an indispensable contribution to the PE department through athletics and cross country .
After a short break to begin her family , Nicola returned part-time to teach IB Maths and joined the Learning Support department as a Maths specialist . Her clear and sensitive teaching delivered with humour and positivity proved transformative for her students ’ understanding and attitude to learning . Nicola also became Head of Cross Country . She led a three-day camp to the South Downs to prepare the squads for the English Schools cup , and the junior girls went on to take the title of national champions .
Nicola is a complete and gifted teacher . Her lively , enthusiastic and joyous personality has lit up the school and she will be hugely missed .

HANNA JAY
Hanna joined the English department in 2019 from the University of St Andrews . What was immediately evident was her fierce intelligence and belief in the importance of good teaching , values she learnt during her time at Sevenoaks as a student . Hanna is an outstanding classroom teacher , erudite and imaginative , never content with anything but the best from her students and from herself . While Hanna is formidable , it has also to be said that she is always positive , enthusiastic , and smiling . Her students know that she has their best interests at heart and wants them to achieve their very best . She is also a talented director , as seen in her compelling Picnic at Hanging Rock and a production of The Wolves staged , against the odds , during Covid-19 . Hanna leaves us to join the English Department at KCS Wimbledon – we will miss her and they are lucky to have her .
