New Year Honours and Queen ’ s Birthday Honours 2022
Paul Greengrass ( OS 1973 ), film director , received a CBE for services to the Arts ; Gavin McGillivray ( OS 1976 ) received an OBE for services to International Development , having worked in Bolivia , Honduras , Colombia , Trinidad , Myanmar and India ; Nicola Colson ( OS 2006 ), Head of Dose Sharing for the Vaccine Taskforce , received an MBE for services to global health ; Christina Handasyde Dick ( née Bassadone ) ( OS 2000 ), founder of Guardian Angel Carers , was awarded an MBE for services to Home Care and to Charity , particularly during Covid-19 ; Tommy Cookson , former Headmaster of Sevenoaks School and founder of educational charity Physics Partners , received an MBE for services to Education ; Eliza Ecclestone ( OS 1991 ) received a BEM for services to the community in Sevenoaks during Covid-19 .
Paul Adams ( OS 1979 ), BBC Diplomatic Correspondent , arrived in Kyiv to report for the BBC during Russia ’ s invasion of Ukraine . Later , he participated in a Royal Television Society discussion ‘ Ukraine : Broadcasters on the Front Line ’, talking about his experience and the effects on journalists of reporting from the front line . Visual and sound artist Oliver Beer ( OS 2004 ) created an installation , Pythagoras ’ Stairs , for Great Ormond Street Hospital ’ s new Sight and Sound Centre . Walking past the acoustic chandelier generates sound in the organ pipes for a therapeutic and sensory experience .
Phil Clayton ( OS 2010 ) was ranked in the top five of the Accountancy Age 35 under 35 . The rating spotlights young talent in the industry who have made significant contributions to their field .
Dexter Dias KC ( OS 1981 ) has been appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge following an open competition . He has authorisation to act as a Judge of the High Court , where he has jurisdiction to sit in the King ’ s Bench and Family Divisions of the High Court . As a barrister he has been instructed in some of the biggest cases in recent years involving human rights and serious crime .
Dr Harriet Kildahl ( OS 2014 ) is a Chemical Engineer and a multi-published author in scientific journals . Her research on aiding the greening of heavy industry is in the process of being patented .

The RAF set a world record for the first successful flight powered by synthetic fuel , in partnership with Zero ® Petroleum founded by Paddy Lowe FREng ( OS 1980 ). His company synthesises ‘ net-zero ’ hydrocarbons which take us a step closer to perpetual , fossil-free energy .
Dr Christopher Roche ( OS 2004 ) has invented a surgical instrument to transplant patches to the heart surface . Professor Solomon Tesfaye ( OS 1978 ), Consultant Endocrinologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals , won an NHS Innovation Award for a one-stop screening service for diabetes .
