deck of the boat ( partly to remind us of the hospital ), with the stage rising to make the frame of the boat . The special effects when Pi jumped into the sea – into a little cloth – and then reappearing in a completely different place , were unexpected and a very pleasant surprise .
The storyline had a lot of depth , raising philosophical questions about religion . Everything in the play has a meaning , for example , the ship ’ s name ( Tsimtsum ) means a Jewish idea of God not existing in a given space . The play makes us wonder , ‘ Do gods co-exist ?’
Overall , the experience was filled with excitement , joy and a few moments of deep thought . Thank you , Ms Taylor , for organising it and taking us – it was a highlight to the end of the year !

EXPLORING THE HISTORY OF ART AT LONDON GALLERIES
I absolutely loved the Year 10 Art trip to Tate Modern and The Courtauld Institute . Tate Modern displayed a plethora of fascinating modern and contemporary artworks , which expanded my view of art and the world . The stories and purpose conveyed by the artists through their work helped me to identify the true meaning behind the phrase ‘ a picture paints a thousand words ’. I especially enjoyed viewing Cildo Meireles ’ s Babel , since the idea was so simple , yet the message was so significant . The Courtauld Institute presented numerous artworks ranging from earlier periods to gripping works created today . As I proceeded through the museum , I began to see the evolution of art over the years . I discovered how artists turned away from the classical traditions and started embracing new media and aesthetic ideals . Seeing the Manet and van Gogh paintings in real life made me wonder why they created detailed textures with each individual brush stroke . After attending this trip , I developed a new understanding of art and its purpose .
