DAY TRIPS growing crops , it is also a dairy farm which focuses completely on sustainability when it comes to dairy production methods . The whole farm is animal friendly , with barns only used in winter – at all other times of the year the animals graze in the open air . Our favourite part of the visit was getting to see the milking parlours ( barns ), where they milk the cows . It was great to be out on a farm , especially as we hadn ’ t been able to go on any trips due to Covid-19 restrictions . Thank you to Ms Taylor for organising it all and taking us , and to Mr Rands-Webb for coming along too . It was great !

The day trips programme returns
Day trips were the first to return to our trips programme after the restrictions of the pandemic began to be lifted . Students and staff embraced the opportunities with enthusiasm and curiosity , exploring cities and landscapes on field trips , enjoying theatre performances , visiting cultural and historic sites , galleries and museums and joining friends and classmates for social activities such as bowling and restaurant suppers .
ORGANIC FARMING AT BORE PLACE
Firstly , Bore Place did not live up to its name . It was far from boring ! Bore Place is a farm with a difference . Home to the Commonwork Trust , it follows organic farming practices and provides opportunities for school groups to go and learn about them . In November , IQ Society spent the day there to explore where food comes from and how food production needs to adapt for a sustainable future . We began our day making pumpkin pancakes , with pumpkins grown sustainably on the farm . Bore Place grows all its food sustainably , but as well as
We have always enjoyed going on a bowling trip with our friends , but this year it was particularly special , as for the last two years , we had not been on many trips . As soon as she was able to , Ms Taylor booked the Hollywood Bowl in Tunbridge Wells for us all to go , making this one of our first trips in Year 8 and only the second trip we had ever been on at Sevenoaks ! This made what would have been a fairly normal event much more enjoyable and memorable . We were given burgers and chips for dinner – the burgers were huge , and although it took some time for everyone to be served , it was worth the wait – they were so delicious ! The bowling trip really gave us all a lot of time to bond with each other and become better friends and peers .

CROSS-CURRICULAR INSPIRATION IN CANTERBURY
We visited Canterbury Cathedral at the end of the year for a cross-curricular study trip . For Art , we were led to the grand nave ; the beautiful architecture was jaw-dropping . We were taught about perspective and then we drew the majestic view . I was amazed by the grandeur of the cathedral . In History , we learned about succession – how Edward the Black Prince and Henry IV were related – and also about the monks and their lifestyle . For Music , we sat in the choir stalls
