HAPPYSELF
Lower School gratitude journaling
During the months of remote learning , the Headmaster encouraged students and staff to think about things they were grateful for in their life . To help Year 7s and 8s develop this habit , he sent them all a surprise present : a HappySelf journal . Rachael Taylor , Assistant Divisional Head of Lower School , talked to Ivy Shen , Bethan Thomas and Isabella Bartholomew in Year 7 to find out how they got on .
Ms Taylor : How and when did the journal arrive ? Ivy : It arrived in the mail on a Friday afternoon .
Ms Taylor : What did you think when you first looked at it ?
Bethan : When I first looked at the journal I was slightly confused and surprised by it .
Ms Taylor : Had you come across the idea of a gratitude journal before ?
Isabella : Before I received the gratitude journal I had heard of one and I had tried to use a gratitude journal , but it didn ’ t work and so I was sceptical about whether or not I would use it and whether or not it would work .
