After sailing activities were curtailed in the Michaelmas term , the Royal Navy section continued to explore a wide variety of land-based syllabus activities . We were lucky to return to small group sailing sessions at Bough Beech in the Lent term , with Year 10s getting their first experience of afloat activities . We made up for the lack of an October Field Day with our June trip to Chatham Historic Dockyard where some fascinating visits were mixed with activities such as rope making . We would like to thank Warrant Officer Theo Duke , who has been an excellent head of section this year .

With a huge intake of 75 new Year 10 cadets joining the Army Section this year we knew we had our work cut out ! Major Kiggell kept us training throughout lockdown , during which APC Basic and Advanced courses were able to continue , broadening the knowledge of the Year 10 and Year 11 cadets . Fifteen Year 11s passed their Cadet Forces Instructional Techniques exam and are now looking forward to becoming Junior Non-Commissioned Officers next term , and a few were even able to complete a PADI scuba diving course . Field Day on 24 June gave an opportunity to brush up and practise our fieldcraft skills . Finally , we have continued specialist training in preparation for Military Skills , Cambrian Patrol and CADSAM competitions next year !

The past year has pushed our creative and organisational skills to new heights . During their first term , led by Corporal Olivia Scott-Smith and Corporal Alex Manley , the new Year 10 cadets were taught the basics about CCF at Sevenoaks as well as some RAF history and basic skills . Our Year 11 cadets started planning the lessons that they would be teaching the Year 10s in the Lent term , putting their public speaking skills to the test . However , they had to revert to leading some creative weekly sessions online , which were met with enthusiasm from the younger cadets , and good progress was made on the syllabus allowing for promotions in the Summer term . Once back at school , Flight Sergeant Josh Davies planned a campus-wide competitive exercise for all cadets and Field Day brought a trip to Bedgebury , where cadets were able to enjoy mountain biking , high ropes and orienteering . Well done to all the cadets and thank you to all those who made it possible . Particular thanks go to Chief Warrant Officer Tasha Dambacher who led the section so well , and we wish all the Upper Sixth leavers the very best for the future .
