An enjoyable season despite an abrupt end .

The 2019-20 football season was certainly one that will be remembered for many years to come . Adverse weather and the outbreak of Covid-19 meant that the Lent term was hugely impacted , leading to the Molten SKIL Leagues , which we participate in , being declared null and void . This was a particular shame as the 1st XI was one of the strongest teams I have seen for many years and it would have been great to see them contend for the 1st XI Molten SKIL title .
The highlight across the two terms , for me , was our outstanding 4-1 win at home against Worth where Oscar Brown scored a hat-trick . Oscar captained the team brilliantly across both the Michaelmas and Lent terms . Having a captain who leads by example on and off the pitch really helps raise the profile of the sport and Oscar acted as a great role model for the younger boys and girls . I was also very proud of the way that the Lower Sixth boys stepped up to 1st XI football ; this bodes well for next year .
Lent , the main football term , got off to a flying start with a block of friendly fixtures against King ’ s Canterbury , allowing coaches to try different formations and team selections as well as giving the players the chance to play in a competitive , nonleague fixture . We played some midweek fixtures across all Middle and Upper School year groups against Wilson ’ s and Tonbridge , which were , as always , competitive and enjoyable . Unfortunately , an
