Fencing
An incredible year for Sevenoaks fencers with several students competing internationally .
The school has had a great year in fencing and the team is going from strength to strength . We are fortunate to have a number of outstanding athletes driving the school ’ s success and developing newer team members ’ enjoyment of the sport . Amelie Tsang , Seb Silva , Woser Prossor and Piero Steiner all compete regularly in national and international competitions and Amelie has represented GB throughout the year , becoming British Youth champion and being selected as part of the national team at the World Championships in Salt Lake City . Piero and Seb have also achieved several medals at regional and national level and have qualified to represent the country in numerous competitions .
The school season saw the team compete in a friendly fixture with Tonbridge School . It was a great experience for our younger fencers and there were some encouraging performances . The team was also very successful at the British Team Championships .
The U18 girls ( Amelie Tsang , Elena Tsang and Erika Chan ) won the silver medal in foil and the U18 boys achieved two bronze medals , one in epee ( Piero Steiner , Harry Couchman and Alex Dugimont ) and one in foil ( Woser Prossor , Piero Steiner and Sasha Stead ).
The Kent U16 and Senior Closed Championships was another successful event where our team won medals in all the disciplines we took part in : Amelie Geens gained silver in U16 girls sabre ; Natasha Diederen silver in senior girls sabre ; Alex Dugimont silver in senior boys epee ; and Alex Kruzewski , gold in senior boys foil .
This year we said goodbye to several excellent fencers . We will greatly miss Alex Kruzewski , Natasha Diederen , Alex Dugimont , Nikolaus Holzer and Sasha Stead . Their enthusiasm for the sport will continue to be an inspiration for our younger fencers who are coming on strong in all three disciplines .
