Skiing
The team , spanning Years 7 to 13 , performed brilliantly in the individual and team races , earning several medals for Sevenoaks .
This year ’ s ski racing season was hit hard by the pandemic , so the team was only able to participate in one event , sadly meaning they did not get to the Artemis British Interschool Ski Challenge in Pila or other races at Hemel Hempstead , Manchester and Landgraaf . This single event however , the First Snow Championships in Val Thorens , was a huge success . We had a team of 46 students with representation in every year group across the school .
As well as being excellent ambassadors for the school , they did brilliantly in the races themselves . In the giant slalom there were standout performances from Giulio Bianco ( U18 boy ; first ), Benjamin Lacour ( U18 boy ; second ), Sophia Zinicola ( U16 girl ; third ), Hector Ribiere ( U14 boy ; first ), Raya Zinicola ( U12 girl ; first ) and Oli Gueorguiev ( U12 boy ; first ).
In the individual slalom , podium places were achieved by Giulio Bianco ( U18 boy ; first ), Charlotte Ip ( U16 girl ; third ), Hector Ribiere ( U14 boy ; second ), Kiran Seegers ( U14 boy ; third ), Raya Zinicola ( U12 girl ; first ) and Oli Gueorguiev ( U12 boy ; first ).
The final event was the team parallel slalom which was great fun and saw our mixed junior team winning the trophy . The overall team spirit was fantastic and we are looking forward to next year ’ s season already .
